Laser Light Engines Enters Metrology Market
Laser Light Engines (LLE) Inc., a manufacturer of laser-driven illumination engines and color modules for digital projection, has shipped its first laser module outside of the cinema industry to an undisclosed customer.
The DSG-265 despeckled green modules will be incorporated into precision 3-D metrology systems that will be sold to end users such as automakers, mobile phone developers and jet engine manufacturers, said Bill Beck, founder and executive vice president. The announcement comes just one week after LLE announced its first production shipment to a major cinema company. (See:

The modules provide cleaner, brighter images, including 2- and 3-D digital cinema, where the computer-controlled illumination system can retrofit to thousands of cinemas worldwide. Available as system building blocks or in stand-alone systems, they deliver light via optical fiber cables, providing flexibility for incorporation into a variety of applications, systems and environments.
“This is another indication that our universal approach to laser illumination technology is paying off, as we are now moving to production manufacturing of components and systems in multiple industries,” Beck said.
