Hamamatsu Photonics, Zecotek to Collaborate on Photodetectors
Zecotek Imaging Systems Pte Ltd., the wholly owned subsidiary of Zecotek Photonics Inc., has signed a joint collaboration agreement with Tokyo-based Hamamatsu Photonics KK to manufacture photodetectors, integrated detector modules, and associated electronics and data acquisition modules for imaging applications.
Hamamatsu is a supplier of optoelectronic components, including photomultiplier tubes and photodiodes used in positron emission tomography (PET) medical scanners, and in industrial and scientific applications.
The two companies will establish a joint program to improve existing versions of photodetectors and imaging modules for immediate commercialization, as well as to develop new instruments for future markets. Both parties will retain full ownership to respective patents and intellectual property brought into the collaboration.
Hamamatsu will manufacture and commercialize the existing and new technologies, including Zecotek’s proprietary LFS (lutetium fine silicate) scintillation crystals, solid-state micropixel avalanche photodiode photodetectors and other photodetector variants.
“By combining our efforts, we can accelerate the commercialization of Zecotek's imaging technologies for the medical, industrial and research applications,” said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk; he is chairman, president and CEO of Zecotek Photonics Inc.
