Sydor Optics Receives ISO Certification

Precision optics manufacturer Sydor Optics has received ISO 9001:2008 certification quality management standards, affording its US and international customers a globally recognized standard of quality assurance.

“ISO 9001:2008 certification was a natural next step and one that our customers value,” said CEO and owner Jim Sydor. “Our customers know that their programs are handled according to optimal quality standards.”

Sydor, which has operated in general compliance with ISO 9000 standards since 2004, worked with Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology (AM&T) of Binghamton to perform the baseline audit in September 2012. The review assessed for gaps between the company’s existing quality management system and the ISO requirements. In November 2012, the company worked with AM&T to make revisions, bringing the company into full ISO standards compliance. The final audit was completed in June 2013 by the National Science Foundation.

Sydor has continually invested in its metrology equipment, adding capabilities and improving quality assurance. Its 2011 expansion included significant investments in metrology and automation, and in 2012 it implemented an integrated computer-based system, strengthening its ability to monitor and control optical manufacturing processes (See: Sydor Completes $4.5M Equipment Buy; Adds 18 Jobs).

The company is also ITAR registered.
