DRS Technologies to Provide Electro-Optical Systems to US Army
PARSIPPANY, N.J., Jan. 17 -- DRS Technologies Inc. has won contracts worth $12.6 million to provide the US Army with thermal imaging systems, B-Kits and spares for the sighting systems of the Abrams M1A2 System Enhancement Package and Bradley M2A3 fighting vehicles under the Army's Horizontal Technology Integration program.
The Army's Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) in Fort Monmouth, N.J., awarded the contracts to DRS Technologies' DRS Sensor Systems unit in Torrance, Calif. The company's DRS Optronics unit in Palm Bay, Fla., will produce the imaging systems. In placing these orders, the Army exercised options on an existing $124.4-million multi-year contract initially awarded in 1997. DRS Technologies said deliveries of the imaging systems are scheduled to start this month and continue through January 2001.
