More Funding Brings Daylight Solutions’ Imager Closer to Market

Daylight Solutions Inc. has been awarded additional funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to accelerate the transition of its mid-infrared hyperspectral imaging platform into commercial markets, the company announced Monday.

Daylight Solutions develops molecular detection and imaging systems in the mid-infrared for use in scientific research, life sciences, industrial process control and defense applications. The company said the additional funding builds on the success of its current Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

"This supplemental award, coupled with Daylight's own internal investments, demonstrates our commitment to working with leading researchers, so that together we enable breakthrough capabilities in life science research," said Daylight Solutions President Paul Larson.

The award was granted through the NSF's Small-Business ERC (Engineering Research Centers) Collaborative Opportunity program, which aims to facilitate the transition of the NSF's technology investments in ERCs and in SBIR projects into commercial markets.

Daylight Solutions is an industrial partner with the NSF-funded ERC for Mid-InfraRed Technologies for Health and the Environment (MIRTHE), which is located at Princeton University in New Jersey. In collaboration with Dr. Rebekah Drezek at Rice University in Houston, the program will leverage Daylight Solutions’ innovative imaging technology and apply it to new methods for detecting cancer.
