Osram Appoints New CEO for the Americas

Light manufacturer Osram has appointed Jes Munk Hansen to lead Osram Americas and Osram Sylvania, effective immediately. He succeeds Rick Leaman, who left the company to pursue other interests.

In his new role as CEO of Osram Americas and as president and CEO of Danvers-based Osram Sylvania, Hansen will be responsible for Osram's business in North, Central and South America. Given the accelerated transformation to the lighting market, his primary task is to further enhance the business transition to energy-efficient LED-based lighting, the company said.

"His many years of experience of introducing new energy-efficient products and profound understanding of the American market are a powerful combination," said Wolfgang Dehen, CEO of Germany-based parent company Osram Licht AG, of Hansen. "His appointment will further strengthen our leadership position at a time where new regulatory standards and new technologies are redefining our industry."

Over the past 13 years, Hansen has held various leadership positions at pump manufacturer Grundfos, serving as CEO and president of Grundfos North America for the past six years. He holds an MBA from London Business School and a Master of Science in forestry from the University of Copenhagen.
