Steenberge to Retire as Teledyne CTO

Robert W. Steenberge, Teledyne Technologies Inc. vice president and chief technology officer, is retiring at the end of the year after 37 years with the company, the instrumentation and imaging systems maker announced this week.

Steenberge, who will serve as a Teledyne consultant after his retirement, will be succeeded by Dr. Edwin Roks, effective Jan. 2.

Steenberge joined Teledyne Electronics in 1976 as a senior systems engineer and later became vice president of engineering. In 1985, he transferred to Teledyne Ryan Electronics as president and general manager. He continued to hold senior technical positions across Teledyne's electronics and instrumentation businesses, and became corporate vice president and chief technology officer in 2000.

“I want to thank Bob for his outstanding service to Teledyne over the last 37 years,” said Robert Mehrabian, Teledyne chairman, president and CEO. “As a seasoned technologist and business leader, Bob’s expertise and personal counsel have been invaluable to me as Teledyne has evolved over the years.”

Roks joined Teledyne with the acquisition of Teledyne Dalsa Inc. in 2011, serving as executive vice president and general manager of the company’s professional and scientific imaging division. Before that, he worked for Phillips Semiconductors and its spinoff companies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Twente, a master of science degree from the Technical University of Eindhoven, and a bachelor of science degree from the College of Advanced Technology in Breda, all in the Netherlands.
