Gooch & Housego Expands Torquay Facilities

Gooch & Housego PLC recently marked the opening of new office and manufacturing facilities at its fiber optic component, photonic packaging and laser module division in Torquay.

Attending the Nov. 14 opening of the expanded plant at Gooch & Housego (Torquay) Ltd. was Dr. Vince Cable, UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills. “G&H (Torquay) is a prime example of the type of business which the government can collaborate with to deliver growth in our economy with its focus on technology, innovation and export,” Cable said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The increased space and capacity was needed to meet increased product demand, the company said.

“Our business has gone through a transformation in the last 10 years from a telecoms component manufacturer to a photonics solutions provider, and the recent launch of the Systems Technology Group in Torquay will further enhance this growth,” said Gooch & Housego (Torquay) general manager Graham Catley.
