Optical Surfaces Supplies Testing Mirror to Samsung Thales
Optical Surfaces Ltd. will provide the Samsung Thales R&D Center in South Korea with a high-precision off-axis parabolic mirror for testing large visible and IR optics, the company said Tuesday.
Optical Surfaces will supply the mounted, 600-mm-diameter mirror through its local distributor, Jeewoo Photonics Ltd. The high-precision (surface accuracy λ/20) off-axis parabolic mirror will be used by Samsung’s optical system design team as a universal collimator system to test optics under development for use in the company’s next generation of thermal imaging and electro-optical systems.
“Samsung sought a supplier with a proven track record in supplying affordable, large off-axis parabolic mirrors in an easy-to-use precision mount,” said MoonWhe Hur, product specialist at Jeewoo Photonics. “With over 50 years’ experience and expertise in designing such systems, Optical Surfaces Ltd. was the preferred supplier chosen by the optical system design team at Samsung.”
