UniPixel CEO Steps Down

Following the resignation of longtime company President and CEO Reed Killion, the board of directors of UniPixel Inc. has appointed its chairman, Bernard Marren, and director, Carl Yankowski, as interim co-president and co-CEO, effective immediately, the electro-optic micro- and nanostructured films maker said Monday.

The search process for a permanent replacement has begun, UniPixel said, and Killion, who had led the company since 2008 and left to pursue other interests, will assist with the transition.

"The company has been moving from the developmental and innovation stage to a manufacturing and commercial production stage, and this transition calls for change," Killion said. "The board and I believe [that] a new CEO and president who has a strong history specific to manufacturing and operational excellence will greatly benefit the company during this transition and best lead through its next stage of growth."

He added that UniPixel's manufacturing relationship with Kodak will help move it toward commercialization in 2014.

UniPixel uses a roll-to-roll process to replicate advanced micro-optic structures and surface characteristics, and it develops electronic conductive films used in electronic sensors for consumer and industrial applications.
