Concept Laser Opens New Development Center
Concept Laser has opened a new development center at its headquarters, increasing its capacity for testing and advancement.
The 600-m
2 R&D lab facility enables further development of the LaserCUSING process, which uses directed laser light with a galvo scanning unit to fuse metal powder in layers and build metal components. The center also provides engineers with a platform for developing laser additive manufacturing systems, such as the LaserCUSING System X line 1000R in XXL format.
Company engineers also will able to conduct tests more rapidly and communicate the results more effectively. The development center houses a larger metallography lab as well as a materials testing area, and provides a more suitable space for confidentiality.
“The number of test reports produced by our development department has already risen by 30 percent, from 2012 to 2013,” said Florian Bechmann, head of development.
