OPIC, OPIE advance photonics in Japan

Laser and optics experts from around the globe will gather to discuss the latest technologies when the third Optics & Photonics International Congress (OPIC 2014) and Optics & Photonics International Exhibition (OPIE 2014) are held April 22-25 at Pacifico Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan.

The event, organized by the Optics & Photonics International Council, is the only annual international event that aims to develop the optics and photonics industry in Japan through collaboration between academia and the laser industry. Also on-site will be the ninth Asia Pacific Laser Symposium (APLS 2014). The official language for these events will be English.

The OPIC conference will feature plenary sessions and technical talks by a variety of speakers, including keynote speeches on vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers, accelerator-on-a-chip technologies, optical tweezers, high-energy physics, bioimaging, LEDs, laser ignition and more.

The following eight international conferences will be held simultaneously: the third Advanced Lasers & Photon Sources, sponsored by the Laser Society of Japan; the Bio-imaging and Sensing Conference, sponsored by the Center for Optical Research and Education at Utsunomiya University; the International Conference on High Energy Density Science, sponsored by the Laser Society of Japan; LEDIA, the Conference on the LED and Its Industrial Application, sponsored by Akasaki Research Center at Nagoya University; the second Laser Ignition Conference, sponsored by the Japan Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine; the first Conference on Laser and Synchrotron Radiation Experiment, sponsored by the Institute of Laser Engineering at Osaka University; the first Optical Manipulation Conference, sponsored by the Japan Society of Applied Physics; and the third Pacific-rim Laser Damage Conference, sponsored by SPIE, the Institute of Laser Engineering at Osaka University and SIOM Chinese Academy of Science.

The exhibition, OPIE, will be held with OPIC from April 23 to 25. It consists of six expos: Laser Expo, Lens Expo, Medical & Imaging Expo, IR + UV Expo, Positioning Expo and Space & Astronomical Expo.
