L-3 AOC Develops Enhanced Gold Coatings for Large-Format Substrates

L-3 Applied Optics Center (AOC), part of L-3 Communications Warrior Systems, has developed a line of gold optical coatings for large-format substrates, offering custom wavelength-specific performance.

The thin-film gold optical coatings are suitable for deposition on lightweight optical elements for applications where weight and performance are critical design factors, such as terrestrial and airborne imaging systems. They work with optical elements in excess of 350 mm in diameter.

Other products currently in development include highly-specialized reflective metallized films such as protected silver, aluminum and silicon carbide, and a range of metal oxides for commercial and military applications.
