GSI Starts 2014 with Acquisition, Sale
GSI Group has made moves so far this year that executives say fall in line with future strategic goals, including its recent acquisition of Jadak, a provider of optical data collection and machine vision technologies for medical OEMs, for $93.5 million. GSI anticipates that the acquisition will ultimately increase its 2014 gross annual revenue.
GSI also sold its scientific lasers business, Continuum, for $7.5 million to an unspecified buyer. Continuum, based in San Jose, Calif., specializes in YAG lasers, optical parametric oscillators and amplifiers, dye lasers, and diode-pumped and ultrafast systems.
