Zecotek Gains 3-D Display Patent
Zecotek Photonics has been awarded a patent for an optical imaging technology it has developed for an autostereoscopic display system.
The patent, granted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, covers the new 3-D/2-D switchable optical imaging system for the company’s glasses-free, 3-D autostereoscopic display. Zecotek holds similar patents in the U.S., China, Russia, Australia and Europe.
The patent covers technology for both 3-D and 2-D modes as well as dynamic adjustment of viewing angles, number and width of viewing zones, and the functionality to control the positioning of different viewing zones.
The patented system further improves the core capabilities of the 3-D display technology by adding a software-selectable, full-resolution 2-D mode with viewing angles and dynamic range/color depth that are equivalent to those found with conventional 2-D displays.
Additionally, Zecotek also has plans to develop an organic LED-based flat-screen, high-definition television that is glasses-free and provides true 3-D.
