Michigan Photonics Group Membership Growing
The Michigan photonics industry group Mi-Light recently announced six new members, bringing its roster to 31 businesses, institutions and organizations.
The new members are: Clark-MXR, Micro-LAM, Ophir-Spiricon, OSA, Thorlabs-UFO and Michigan Technological University.
Mi-Light formed a photonics industry cluster in 2012 with the support of 11 founding sponsors and funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
“Michigan has a vibrant photonics network consisting of colleges, universities, research institutions, start-ups and small- to mid-sized companies, as well as end users in major industries like automotive, telecommunications, medical, defense and aerospace,” said Michelle Stock, chairwoman of the Mi-Light board of directors.
The group has provided grant money to Baker College in Flint Township for scholarships and for equipping labs for its new photonics and laser technology associate degree program.
