Daylight Defense to Develop UV Laser for Army
Daylight Defense LLC, a Daylight Solutions subsidiary, has been selected by the U.S. Army to develop a high-power UV laser to help protect aircraft in combat.
The decision was made under the U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, which provides U.S. businesses with less than 500 employees the opportunity to perform R&D for the Army.
The laser will be used for applications such as helicopter lidar, battlefield awareness and trace detection using lidar backscatter.
Daylight Defense has developed several quantum-cascade laser systems for the military.
