ON Semiconductor Expands Imaging Business with Aptina Purchase
ON Semiconductor has acquired Aptina Imaging Corp. of San Jose, Calif., for approximately $400 million in cash.
Aptina manufactures CMOS imaging systems for consumer electronics devices, as well as the automotive, surveillance, video conferencing, scanning, medical and gaming markets.
ON Semiconductor projects that the Aptina acquisition likely will contribute $60 million to $70 million in revenue in the third quarter. Earnings, however, are expected to be negative due to costs related to restructuring, fair market value step-up of inventory and acquisitions.
In April, ON Semiconductor acquired Truesence Imaging Inc. of Rochester, N.Y., for $92 million.
