Daylight Solutions, Thorlabs Partner on QCL Projects
Daylight Solutions Inc. and Thorlabs will work together to develop quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) for defense and security applications.
Meanwhile, Thorlabs recently acquired Corning Inc.’s QCL business and associated optical semiconductor technologies research group, which produces QCLs for sensing, scientific and defense markets. Daylight Solutions has collaborated with Corning on QCLs for the last six years. Thorlabs Quantum Electronics will integrate the Corning assets into its facility in Jessup, Md.
Daylight Solutions develops laser-based mid-infrared molecular spectroscopy and imaging systems for scientific research, life sciences, industrial process control and defense.
Thorlabs manufactures a variety of photonic components including semiconductor lasers, towers for drawing glass optical fibers, crystals and thin films.
