Leica Mapping Drones to Carry Headwall Hyperspectral Imagers
Headwall Photonics’ hyperspectral imaging sensors will be integrated into Leica Geosystems’ drone mapping systems under a new agreement between the two companies.
Hyperspectral imaging allows collection of data on the material composition of objects in the field of view. For example, forests can be mapped by plant species, quarries can be mapped by mineral composition and farmland can be mapped by plant vitality.
Headwall sensors are specialized for the visible, near-infrared and shortwave infrared spectra.
Leica Geosystems, of Heerbrugg, Switzerland, provides products and services for capturing, analyzing and presenting spatial information.
