MAC Thin Films Open for Business
JDSU spinoff MAC Thin Films Inc. has begun operations, offering coatings for displays and other applications. Mark Madigan, former marketing and product management executive at JDSU, is the new company’s CEO.
At the new business’ core is the multilayer automatic coater (MAC) system, which provides antireflection and front-surface mirror coatings. These coatings are optimized for specific applications to provide uniform antireflection performance over a broad range of wavelengths and help maximize energy throughput.
Other MAC Thin Films products are used in direct-view displays, office automation, projection displays and automotive markets. Potential applications include avionics equipment for defense and aerospace.
JDSU will provide technical support services for six months to ensure a smooth transition.
