Rofin-Sinar Ends Fiscal Year on a High Note
Sales were mostly steady and profits were better than expected as Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc. closed its fiscal year.
Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014 was $12 million, up 22.2 percent from $9.8 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013. Sales totaled $146.1 million, down 1 percent from $147.6 million in 2013.
Revenue from lasers for macro applications increased by 7 percent to $57.4 million, while revenue from lasers for micro and marking applications decreased by 6 percent to $69.4 million. Components revenue decreased 4 percent to $19.3 million.
CEO Gunther Braun said the company plans to debut a new generation of high-power fiber lasers in 2015.
“We will continue to see the benefits from new product introductions, such as high-power fiber lasers and ultrashort-pulse lasers, and the use of our products in new applications, such as brittle material cutting,” he said.
Sales in the first quarter of fiscal 2015 are expected to be in the range of $127 million to $132 million.
