Esco Optics Eyes New Manufacturing Plant After Fire
After a devastating fire, Esco Optics is eyeing a new manufacturing plant it says will double its production capacity.
No one was hurt in the Aug. 10 blaze, and the company has been operating temporarily out of a satellite facility in Oak Ridge ever since. Esco said it now plans to move into a new building, also in Oak Ridge, in February. The new 15,000-square-foot facility has expansion potential of up to 34,000 square feet.
Employees salvaged several pieces of equipment after the fire, and the company has since added new equipment for component metrology, plano polishing and manufacturing aspherical and spherical lenses, and free-form optics.
