Photonics21 Holds Elections, Sets Priorities
The European industry and research association Photonics21 recently carried out membership and priorities votes.
Jenoptik CEO Michael Mertin was unanimously re-elected as association president.
Meanwhile, professor Dr. Rob Eason of the Optoelectronics Research Center at the University of Southampton in England was elected to the board of stakeholders.
The 97-member board of stakeholders met Nov. 14 in Brussels to vote on research and innovation priorities. The voting results are to be discussed at the public-private partnership board meeting Monday, where a proposal will be shaped for including the priorities into the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program.
Photonics21 was established in 2005 by European optical technology companies and research institutes. It now has more than 2500 members.
