SemiNex Patents Compact, Self-Aligning Laser
SemiNex Corp. has been awarded
U.S. Patent No. 8,811,439 for a compact semiconductor laser system.
“The laser engine system we’ve designed provides an efficient means of integrating a laser and a cooling system into a very small form factor,” said Dr. John Callahan, the company’s vice president of design and engineering. “It’s well-suited for applications where overall system cost and space are at a premium.”
The system is capable of multiwatt output from 500 nm to 2 µm.
The patent also covers the assembly and packaging processes. The laser system is designed to be self-aligning to reduce manufacturing cost while increasing manufacturing throughput.
