Marines Award Elbit $73.4M Contract for Laser Rangefinders

The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded Elbit Systems of America LLC a $73.4 million contract for laser rangefinder technology.

The Common Laser Range Finder-Integrated Capability (CLRF-IC) replaces the Marines’ current equipment with a system that provides 24-hour observation capability, accurate range to targets and the ability to confirm spot on target with laser designation systems. It also allows accurate target location in a variety of conditions, including magnetically disturbed environments, areas with overhead clutter and in GPS-denied situations.

“Leveraging the innovative capabilities of our imaging, rangefinding and degraded-environment navigation solutions, Marines are now able to acquire targets without breaking cover from their concealed fighting positions and minimize impact while on the move,” said CEO Raanan Horowitz.

Work on the new systems will be performed at the company’s operations center in Merrimack, N.H.

The military contract extends through March 2020. Elbit has already received an initial order worth $7.5 million.

Elbit Systems of America LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd. of Israel.
