Elbit to Provide HMDs for Navy Helicopters

Elbit Systems of America LLC will install and test its Color Helmet Display and Tracking System (CHDTS) on U.S. Navy helicopters under a contract from Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) Inc.

The program is part of an improved targeting system for helicopter weapon kits aboard the MH-60S Seahawk test aircraft. The CHDTS is meant to help pilots see color flight instrument symbols on their helmet-mounted display (HMD) modules in both day and night.

Additionally a line-of-sight tracking system enables pilots to interact with the flight navigation system, improves pilot and copilot situational awareness, and can also be used to control pilot or copilot slewable sensor systems.

The system also presents a continuously calculated weapon impact symbol for the pilot display to increase weapon system accuracy.
