Kopin Names General Manager for China

Wearable technologies firm Kopin Corp. Inc. has named Sam Zeng general manager of China operations.

Zeng has more than 20 years of experience in Internet and mobile services, with extensive knowledge of business development and product management. He started his career at AT&T Inc. as a technology specialist and then moved to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as a senior system consultant.

He subsequently joined Asiainfo Holdings Inc., one of China’s first NASDAQ-listed companies, as a founding employee and held various positions including vice president of software product marketing and strategic business development.

Later he joined Nokia Oyj and became head of its China media and games division and general manager of the emerging business unit; then at Motorola Mobility LLC, he served as senior director of product software and user experience.

“I believe wearable technology is at the threshold of consumer adoption and I look forward to utilizing my experience with the Chinese business community to identify opportunities for Kopin,” Zeng said.

Dr. John C.C. Fan, Kopin’s president and CEO, said the company is partnering with several large customers in China and is in discussion with several tier-one companies to develop wearable products.

Kopin’s technology portfolio includes ultrasmall displays, optics, speech enhancement technology, software, low-power application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and ergonomically designed smart headset concept systems.
