Mahr Expands Optical Metrology Offerings with ESDI Acquisition

Continuing its push into the optical metrology market, Mahr GmbH has acquired Engineering Synthesis Design Inc. (ESDI) of Tucson, Ariz. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ESDI develops Fizeau interferometers and software for surface and wavefront metrology applications in the optics, aerospace, automotive and electronics industries.

Mahr has 17 subsidiaries, including Mahr Federal Inc. in the U.S., and 1900 employees worldwide. It develops measuring units to test workpiece geometry, as well as precision gear, metering pumps and rotary stroke bearings. Its customers include manufacturers of synthetic fibers, elastomers and fiber-reinforced composites, and their suppliers, as well as the plastics processing industry generally.
