Konica Minolta Eyes Automated Inspection Market with Acquisition of Radiant Vision Systems
Konica Minolta Inc. said it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Radiant Vision Systems LLC of Redmond, Wash., a provider of test and measurement equipment for the flat panel display industry.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. It is expected to be finalized in August, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.
Radiant offers custom test and measurement systems and provides turnkey systems that combine CCD-based colorimeters or photometers with application-specific software.
Konica Minolta said the acquisition will strengthen its position in the display and light source color measurement sectors, and allow it to enter the growing market for automated inspection systems in manufacturing, including visual surface inspection. Increasingly, manufacturers are expected to adopt automated inspection technologies, which improve product quality and productivity, the company said.
