World Economic Forum Names Heliatek ‘Technology Pioneer’

The World Economic Forum has listed Heliatek GmbH, a photovoltaic solar film manufacturer, as a Technology Pioneer in its annual list of the world’s most innovative companies.

From among hundreds of applicants, 49 companies were selected by a committee comprising top technology and innovation experts, academics, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. The committee bases its decisions on criteria such as innovation, potential impact, working prototype, viability and leadership.

The only German company to make the list, Heliatek will be invited to the World Economic Forum’s meeting in Dalian, China, in September and the Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, in January.

"We are delighted to be recognized by The World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer,” said Thibaud Le Séguillon, CEO of Heliatek. “We have developed groundbreaking technology and manufacturing [processes] that will have a significant impact on the way energy is produced. By integrating our solar films to building facades, we turn these into localized power stations."

Past recipients of the Technology Pioneer designation include Google, Wikimedia, Mozilla, Kickstarter and Dropbox.
