Macom to Acquire Optical Subassemblies Firm FiBest for $60M
M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc. (Macom) will acquire Japanese optical subassembly supplier FiBest Ltd. in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $60 million.
The acquisition will expand Macom's 100-, 200- and 400-Gb/s optical networking capabilities, as well as its data centers market.
"The quality of the optical subassembly is a major factor in achieving the performance, power efficiency and cost targets necessary for 100-G in data centers — and becomes mission-critical at 200-G and 400-G data rates," said John Croteau, president and CEO of Macom. "Adding FiBest will significantly expand Macom's addressable market with high growth potential for 100-G in data centers, as we anticipate an inflection point in demand in 2017."
Closing is expected during the company's fiscal first quarter of 2016.
Macom supplies analog radio frequency, microwave and millimeter-wave and semiconductor photonic products to enable Internet and modern battlefield applications. It serves multiple markets, including high-speed optical, satellite, radar, wired and wireless networks, automotive, industrial, medical and mobile devices.
