Ophir-Spiricon Partners with US Army for Workforce Training
Ophir-Spiricon LLC is making it a priority to hire veterans by participating in the U.S. Army's Partnership for Youth Success program.
"We are excited to welcome Ophir-Spiricon to our team of corporate [and] government agency partners in the Partnership for Youth Success program," said Lt. Col Matthew Harmon, commander of the Salt Lake City Army Recruiting Battalion. "We are proud of our partnerships that enable our recruiters to offer applicants quality employment opportunities during and after their Army service."
Under terms of the agreement, enlistees interested in gaining specific job training and qualifications will receive that training while in the U.S. Army. As part of the enlistment process, recruits sign a statement of intent to work for Ophir-Spiricon upon completion of their service term. As they near the end of their enlistments, the soldiers have the opportunity to interview at the company for a specific job at a specific location.
"As a high-technology company, we are in constant need to innovate and grow," said Gary Wagner, general manager of Ophir-Spiricon. "Hiring the best is a challenge, particularly in such an attractive geographic location where unemployment rates are typically lower than most places in the U.S. Veterans have turned out to be some of our best employees, and we look forward to being the conduit between military service and civilian employment."
The Army has more than 566 partner corporations and public sector agencies across the nation including General Motors, AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, JPMorgan Chase, Amazon.com, Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Union Pacific Railroad, Johnson Controls, Facebook and Westmoreland Coal.
Ophir-Spiricon provides photonic instrumentation including power and energy meters, beam profilers, spectrum analyzers, and goniometric radiometers.
