Glass-to-Metal Firm LTI Acquires Ceramics Manufacturer Remtec
Remtec Inc., a manufacturer of ceramics for photonics applications, has been acquired by Legacy Technologies Inc. (LTI), which manufactures glass-to-metal seal hermetic packages, precision quartz crystal holders and other technologies.
Remtec will remain an independent company operating under the existing management team at its present location in Norwood, Mass., which includes a 33,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
”The acquisition will benefit LTI’s domestic and international customers, as the combined companies will have even greater resources for product innovation, manufacturing efficiencies and customer service,” said Bruce Diggett, LTI president and CEO.
LTI is registered as an ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) company and its products are used for aerospace, defense, telecommunications, medical, automotive and sensor applications.
Remtec provides custom and semicustom packaging solutions using plated copper on thick film metallization on alumina, AIN and BeO ceramics. Applications include sensors and detectors, laser and photo diode submounts, radio frequency/microwave products, DC power electronics, optoelectronics, and other high-density and power circuitry in commercial, industrial and military industries.
