Mauna Kea, Cook Medical Partner on Urology Endomicroscope Commercialization

Cook Medical will commercialize a private-label version of Mauna Kea Technologies Inc.'s confocal laser endomicroscopy platform Cellvizio for urological applications.

The launch in North America, Western Europe and China is planned for the first half of 2016.

Urological applications of confocal laser endomicroscopy with Cellvizio may include detection and surveillance of bladder cancer and the characterization of upper urinary tract urothelial cancer, the companies said.

Headquartered in Bloomington, Ind., Cook Medical, a division of the Cook Group Inc., produces medical devices and supplies, with specific expertise in urology applications.

Cellvizio is the flagship product of Mauna Kea Technologies SA, a global medical device company.
