Biolase, IPG Team Up on Dental Lasers
Biolase Inc. and IPG Medical, the medical laser division of IPG Photonics Corp. in Alpharetta, Ga., have entered into a development and distribution agreement for dental laser products, accessories and integral system components.
The companies will collaborate in the design and development of new products and applications. Biolase will be responsible for U.S. and international registrations of all dental products resulting from the agreement and will have exclusive worldwide commercial distribution rights for certain products over a multiyear initial term after completion of development.
IPG develops and commercializes optical fiber-based and semiconductor lasers for industrial, manufacturing and medical applications.
Biolase is a medical device company that develops, manufactures, and markets lasers in dentistry and medicine. It also markets and distributes 2D and 3D digital imaging equipment, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) intraoral scanners, and in-office milling machines and 3D printers.
