Rofin-Sinar Appoints Stefan Ruppik Director

Rofin-Sinar Technologies Inc. has appointed Stefan Ruppik an additional director of Rofin-Sinar Laser GmbH.

Ruppik is responsible for the business areas of R&D, production and logistics at the Hamburg facility, concentrating on industrial materials processing with high-power lasers, including cutting and welding applications in the machine tool and automotive industries. The product range manufactured at this location includes CO2 lasers, as well as fiber lasers with output power of up to 8 kW.

Ruppik holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Helmut-Schmid University, an establishment of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg. He earned his doctorate in radio frequency technology and optoelectronics after years of representing the Air Force on global missions as a technical officer in radar technology.

Ruppik initially led the Rofin Hamburg team for electrical technology and radio frequency technology where he was specifically responsible for further development of high-frequency excitation for the CO2 Slab laser. After holding additional management positions in the development of solid-state lasers, Ruppik ultimately took over as director of R&D in 2006. He is responsible for coordinating worldwide development of high-power fiber lasers.

Rofin-Sinar Technologies develops, designs and manufactures lasers and laser-based system technology for industrial material processing applications.
