Gigaphoton Expands with 2 Chinese Support Bases
Lithography light source manufacturer Gigaphoton Inc. will set up new support bases in the Chinese cities of Dalian and Xiamen to support the region’s semiconductor market.
“I believe that the excellent stability, productivity and efficiency of our lasers, as well as support services, are appreciated by Chinese users,” said Hitoshi Tomaru, president and CEO of Gigaphoton, who cited a rapidly growing Chinese market as impetus for the expansion.
Recently, foreign leading and domestic semiconductor manufacturers have invested in Chinese facilities, Gigaphoton said. The conventional focus on existing logical or analog devices has shifted to mass production of memory. Gigaphoton has been increasing its market share and its business in China after market reports suggest the country’s leadership in the 2016 semiconductor market.
Gigaphoton supplies laser technology and extreme-ultraviolet light sources for semiconductor manufacturers.
