Tyco Submarine SupplyingBangladesh-Singapore Cable System

MORRISTOWN, N.J., Mar. 24 -- Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd., a subsidiary of Tyco International Ltd., has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board to design, manufacture and install an undersea fiber optic cable system that will be known as the Bangladesh-Singapore Submarine Cable System.
The system, which is scheduled to be completed in 2002, will be approximately 3,200 km long and will connect Bangladesh and Singapore. Completion of the system will enable Bangladesh to link into some of the major undersea cable systems that land in Singapore, providing Bangladesh with worldwide connectivity. The supply contract for the project is valued at approximately $150 million (US).
