NKT Photonics Acquires Fiber Laser Firm Fianium for $30M
NKT Photonics (NKT Holding A/S) said it has signed an agreement and closed the transaction to acquire Fianium Holdings Ltd., a global supplier of ultrafast, high-power laser systems, headquartered in Southampton, England. The transaction price amounts to £21 million (about $29.8 million).
Fianium supplies both ultrafast and supercontinuum fiber lasers with a strong presence in the U.S., as well as a global distribution network. In 2015, Fianium realized revenue of £7 million and had 54 employees, NKT reported.
NKT said the acquisition will improve its position in its primary market, which are scientific and OEM customers with an increasing focus on commercial applications.
