Premier Laser Files for Chapter 11

Irvine, Calif.-based Premier Laser Systems Inc. filed a voluntary petition for protection and reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code in the US Bankruptcy Court in Santa Ana, Calif. The company said the move follows its liquidity problems, which resulted in layoffs, and is necessary to protect against its creditors. It will seek to maximize its assets and value for the benefit of its creditors, customers and shareholders.

Premier manufactures diagnostic and therapeutic laser and fiber delivery systems for eye care, dental and surgical applications.
