Cognex Reports Record Bookings for New Vision Sensor

NATICK, Mass., April 18 -- Cognex Corp. said that bookings for its new In-Sight 2000 vision sensor have surpassed $1 million. The company described In-Sight as a low-cost machine vision sensor designed to provide manufacturing engineers with a relatively simple and inexpensive means of controlling manufacturing processes at numerous points on production lines. According to Cognex, typical applications for the product include inspecting connectors used in such consumer electronic products as cell phones, and inspecting the size and shape of gaskets used in the assembly of automobile engines.
We are very excited to have passed this milestone sooner than we expected, said Robert J. Shillman, president, CEO and chairman of Cognex. Our sales team began to actively sell this product to customers only two months ago, and passing the $1 million mark in so short a time makes the introduction of In-Sight the most successful product launch in Cognex history.
