FLIR Receives $29 Million in New Contracts

PORTLAND, Ore., April 19 -- FLIR Systems Inc. has been awarded several contracts with a total value of approximately $29.7 million from government and commercial customers.
The company was awarded a contract for Star Safire upgrades and enhancements for the US Marine Corps' fleet of UH-1N helicopters. The Star Safire employs infrared imaging technology with three optical fields of view for long-range identification and image clarity. FLIR also received orders for six Safire systems to be installed on the US Army's Sikorsky UH-60Q Medivac helicopters.
In addition, FLIR received three contracts from separate international military customers. While two of the contracts are follow-on orders, the third represents an order from a new international military customer for multiple units of the Star Safire system.
FLIR noted that it recently completed a $4.7-million contract with IRIS Systems, which will deploy FLIR's Ultra 7000 imaging system on the IRIS mobile commercial vehicle braking inspection system.
