Avo Develops Emitter for Luxmux
Optoelectronic developer Avo Photonics Inc. has produced a solid-state, broadband, continuous emitter for use with optical component developer Luxmux’s Technology Corp.’s miniature integrated spectrometers.
Avo Photonics has developed a superluminescent LED-based, broadband, near-infrared source. Courtesy of Avo Photonics Inc.
The emitter combines the outputs of multiple super-luminescent LEDs into a polarization-maintaining single-mode fiber through the collimating of multiple beams for collinearity. An overlap of 700 μm is achieved along with pointing to within 250 μrad. The result is a >100-mw, fiber-coupled source with continuous emission over the 1250- to 1750-nm band.
The product is intended for the oil and gas market, along with other industrial markets including environmental and air quality monitoring. Its immediate application will be real-time, in-situ measurement of industrial boiler seam output to optimize the liquification of bitumen for extraction at oil sands production sites.
Avo provides custom optoelectronic design, prototyping and production services for military, aerospace, medical, industrial and communications applications. Luxmux is a photonic technology company and OEM.
