Renishaw Expands, Announces Management Changes

Engineering company Renishaw Inc. has announced changes to its U.S. senior management team, as well as the development of a new technology center.

Leo Somerville, former president of Renishaw, has been promoted to oversee Renishaw North America in a newly created position to advance all aspects of Renishaw’s healthcare business. Replacing Somerville as president is Howard Salt, former business manager of encoder products.

“The growth in size and complexity of Renishaw’s key North American market for products, services and new technologies requires a strategic refocus of the senior U.S. management team to address this positive situation,” said David McMurtry, chairman and CEO of Renishaw. “Congratulations to Leo Somerville and Howard Salt on their very well earned promotions.”

A new senior management team has been created to support Salt in his new role as president. David Bozich, former business manager, was appointed vice president of operations. Denis Zayia, former national sales and marketing manager, was appointed vice president of sales and marketing.

The new Auburn Hills technology center, serving the automotive market and other industries, is set to break ground in 2017. The 20,070-sq-ft technology and research center in Oakland Technology Park will provide turnkey measuring solutions to automotive companies such as Chrysler, Ford and GM, while also supporting the medical and aerospace industries.

The company will also soon complete its new 133,000-sq-ft office and warehouse facility in West Dundee, Ill.

Renishaw provides products for metrology, raman spectroscopy, motion control, machine vision and more.
