Divergent Partners With Peugot, SLM on 3D Car Printing

3D car technology manufacturer Divergent Technologies Inc. is working with car manufacturers Peugeot Automobiles and SLM Solutions Group AG to use its printing methods at mass scale.

Divergent’s 3D-printed car, The Blade, debuted two years ago. The company’s 3D printing methods allow engineers to customize car components, essentially giving them even greater control over how a car is assembled. They can, for example, add more material to specific stress points or leave holes in areas where it's possible to reduce weight. The Blade's chassis weighs 635 kg — about three times lighter than a Tesla Model S.

Divergent is a developer of green, 3D printed automotive manufacturing platforms.
