Leica Camera Announces New Industrial Subsidiary
Camera manufacturer Leica Camera AG has created a new subsidiary, LC Light & Imaging Systems GmbH, to expand the company's activities in the industrial segment.
The company will develop custom-built optical systems for industrial applications. The team of eight specialists, led by managing director Jakob Bleicher, possesses years of in-depth experience in the fields of industrial optics, photographic and laboratory technology, as well as acquisition and the provision of consulting services to international B2B customers from all areas of the optical and optoelectronic industry.
‘We are pleased at the prospect of expanding our international activities in the industrial segment and bundling our competencies with those of our experienced colleagues at LC Light & Imaging Systems,” said Markus Limberger, chief operating officer at Leica Camera. “We see enormous potential in the focused exploitation of existing synergies in the close collaboration with the Leica Camera production facilities in Wetzlar and Portugal.”
The team will also be able to take advantage of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities operated by Leica Camera in Wetzlar and at its second factory in Portugal for component production in industrial optical systems. The main focus will be the development of customer-specific optical systems for industrial applications such as 3D measurement and high-performance inspection.
