Alluxa to Double Production Capacity in Expansion

Optical filter and coating developer Alluxa Inc. is expanding its Santa Rosa, Calif., factory, doubling its production capacity over the next two years.

“We are gratified that customer demand for our new products and customer initiatives requires us to launch another facility, production and technology expansion,” said Mike Scobey, CEO of Alluxa. “This latest expansion will bring our total floor space to over 40,000 sq ft and the number of deposition machines running our proprietary Sirrus Plasma Deposition process to 24. This will allow us to keep pace with the increasing demand for our optical coatings and filters, as well as to continue to enable an aggressive new product development and R&D schedule.”

In addition to increased production capacity, Alluxa is also investing in robotics, metrology and advanced optical coating technology.

“The new expansion continues the pattern of aggressive capital deployment and hiring to support the needs of our customers with increased production levels and enough extra capacity to enable rapid turn from prototype to production for our OEM projects,” said Peter Egerton, executive vice president of business development at Alluxa.

Alluxa designs and manufactures next-generation, hard-coated optical filters using a proprietary plasma deposition process.
