Lucent Names Linares President for Caribbean, Latin America Region

CORAL GABLES, Fla., May 18 -- Lucent Technologies has picked Carlos Linares to head its Caribbean and Latin America division upon the retirement of Art Medeiros in June of this year. During Linares' three-year tenure as vice president of Lucent's Caribbean, Central America and South America region, he has overseen the opening of new markets as well as the expansion of Lucent's product line in the region. Linares was also an important member of Lucent's International Leadership Team.
In addition, Linares brings experience as regional director for Alestra, AT&T's long distance joint venture in Mexico, where he greatly increased the company's customer base. Linares has also held several executive and managerial positions with AT&T in Latin America and the US.
