Study Predicts Growth in Broadband Services Market
TEMPE, Ariz., May 19 -- A report by Forward Concepts, a market researcher, stated that the two largest consumer applications for broadband services are Internet access and education/training; the two applications are predicted to reach $6.2 billion and $2.1 billion respectively by 2005.
According to the report, the most popular applications for small-office/home-office use will be Internet access and packet voice; forecast to reach $4.6 billion and $1.3 billion respectively.
The applications most used in the enterprise market are virtual private networks (VPNs), expected to reach $5.1 billion, and general Internet access, expected to reach $5.1 billion.
The report, titled Broadband in the Local Loop'00, said that, despite market uncertainties, the cable modem and DSL communities will continue to provide a wide variety of services to customers who continue to purchase these services.
